Baggrund: Den 1.oktober 2024 åbnede AEGIS projektet (Ancient Environmental Genomics Initiative for Sustainability), på baggrund af bevillinger på i alt 585 MDKK fra Novo Nordisk Fondet og Welcome trust Foundation. Projektet ledes af Eske Willerslev og omhandler DNA sekvensering af forhistoriske økosystemer med henblik på at finde løsninger på fremtidens fødevare- og biodiversitetskriser i en verden med klimatiske forandringer. Centralt i projektet er etableringen af en biobank for konsortiets indsamlede prøver, således understøtter biobanken fremtidig reproducerbarhed og dermed kvalitet i forskningen. Indkøbet omfatter 1 stk. Semi-automatiseret biobankfryser -20°C fryser til opbevaring af ca. 23.000 stk biobank-prøverør af 4 ml i SBS-format racks.
